Alisha Lindsey

Alisha and her husband Matt moved to NWA in August 2009 from Buffalo, NY. Matt and Alisha have four children: Jayden (9), Kendall (6), Carson (3), and Elias (10 months). Alisha enjoys sports and reading. She is happiest when she sees her kids getting along and having a great time together, spending time with her extended family (which they don’t see very often), and being outside in great weather. Alisha definitely prefers dark chocolate. She doesn’t have a favorite food since she will try just about any type of food. Her favorite dessert is anything with dark chocolate, especially cheesecake. Her favorite place to vacation is any beach with a pool next to it. Her favorite scripture is Mosiah 2:17 (And behold, I tell you these things that ye may learn wisdom; that ye may learn that when ye are in the service of your fellow beings ye are only in the service of your God.) because it helps her to remember to love others and also to help with teaching moments with her kids. This year Alisha hopes to get back into running and learn more primary songs with her family.

Missy Dunkin

Missy & Lance moved to NWA about 22 months ago (around March 2009) from Utah. They have two children: Myma (2) and Finn (3 months). Missy enjoys reading, running, doing yoga, and spending time with her family. Bubble baths and family time make Missy happy. She prefers milk chocolate, but lately she is starting to like dark chocolate. Her favorite type of food is Mexican food. Her favorite dessert is cupcakes. And she is happy to vacation anywhere. Her favorite hymn is "Abide with Me." She loves it because the hymn always reminds her how much she needs Heavenly Father and she feels so much peace in her life knowing she can always have His help. This year Missy would like to be able to get through her yoga class without spending quite so much time in child's pose.:)

We are so happy to congratulate the Judds on the arrival of Paige Reagan Judd.  Mom and baby are doing well!  Happy day!

Tuscaloosa Tornado Survivors Need Our Help

The University of Alabama Alumni Association within Wal-mart is doing a clothing and essential items drive this week, and they will be taking it down this weekend to distribute to those who need it in the Tuscaloosa Al area.  Items needed are any and all adult and children's clothing, as well as baby wipes, diapers, toothbrushes, toothpaste, formula, hand sanitizer, deodorant, any other personal hygiene items, toilet paper, children and adult undergarments, charcoal, trash bags, cleaning supplies, tarps/tents, etc.  If anyone would like to donate any of the above-mentioned items, please bring it to our RS meeting tomorrow night.  The Masseys will collect the items and make sure that they get delivered to the right place.  Bed clothing and towels, linens, etc. would also be appreciated.

Think of our Sunday School lesson and when the Savior responded to the rich young man to go and sell everything he had, he had a choice.  These people did not.  For His own purposes and in His own way, our Heavenly Father has required everything of some of these people who are now desperately in need.  Their choices come in how they choose to accept His requirements. This is a wonderful and easy way for our sisters to live up to their baptismal covenants and comfort those that stand in need of comfort.

He will be discussing how to rid ourselves of the "Superwoman complex" in addition to other wonderful topics. Q&A time also: it will be anonymous so come armed with questions! Come enjoy yummy food and better company!

May 13-FRIDAY Stake Temple Day

When: Saturday, May 21 from 9-11 AM
Where: Centerton Cemetary
Who: Everyone! Bring the whole family!
What: We will be sprucing up the Centerton Cemetary before Memorial Day, their busiest time of the year! We will be doing some edging around headstones, cleaning headstones with water, throwing away old flowers/trash, etc.
Bring: Cordless edgers, scissors (can also use to trim around headstones), cloths, buckets. We told the primary kids to bring their own bucket and toothbrush and they can clean their own headstones!
*We will be serving donuts and cold water!
**Special note about safety. Because it is a sometimes busy road, we ask that you please remind your children they MAY NOT cross the street without an adult! The dumpster we are using is at the Methodist church across the street.

June Book Group

Book group was fantastic Thursday night!  I might be a little biased due to the fact that I love the book (and I led the discussion), but I thought it was a lot of fun!  It's always fun to spend the evening with wonderful ladies...even if we are tired the next day ;)  Thank you Cori for hosting us in your home and for the yummy cheese dip and strawberries.

In June we will be discussing Eat, Drink and Be Healthy: The Harvard Medical School Guide to Healthy Eating by Walter C. Willett, MD.  Our group has been wanting to do a healthy eating type book for a long time and we have struggled to find a good one.  We don't want a diet book (no fun!) and we didn't want anything crazy.  Hopefully this book will fit the bill of helping us understand how to eat to be healthy.  The book seems to be easy to find and amazon.com has used copies for 1 cent (plus shipping).

We will meet Thursday, June 2nd at 8:30 pm at Melanie McMurtery's house.  

A little bit about the book:

Dr. Willett is chairman of the Department of Nutrition at the Harvard School of Public Health, a professor at Harvard Medical School, and he heads some of the most important long-term studies of how nutrition affects health. Stefani Hooper

Stefani and her husband Mike moved to NWA in January 2006 from Salt Lake City, UT. They have three children: Megan (14), Samantha (9), and Noah (6). Stefani enjoys running, reading, shopping, baking and cooking, and eating. She is happiest when she is with family, friends, and food. She loves both milk and dark chocolate. Stefani’s favorite food is pizza. She loves all desserts equally (no favorites). Her favorite vacation is anywhere warm and tropical. Her favorite scripture is Mosiah 2:22 (all that he requires of you is to keep his commandments; …therefore, if ye do keep his commandments he doth bless you and prosper you) and her favorite hymn is How Firm a Foundation.
