June Book Group

Book group was fantastic Thursday night!  I might be a little biased due to the fact that I love the book (and I led the discussion), but I thought it was a lot of fun!  It's always fun to spend the evening with wonderful ladies...even if we are tired the next day ;)  Thank you Cori for hosting us in your home and for the yummy cheese dip and strawberries.

In June we will be discussing Eat, Drink and Be Healthy: The Harvard Medical School Guide to Healthy Eating by Walter C. Willett, MD.  Our group has been wanting to do a healthy eating type book for a long time and we have struggled to find a good one.  We don't want a diet book (no fun!) and we didn't want anything crazy.  Hopefully this book will fit the bill of helping us understand how to eat to be healthy.  The book seems to be easy to find and amazon.com has used copies for 1 cent (plus shipping).

We will meet Thursday, June 2nd at 8:30 pm at Melanie McMurtery's house.

A little bit about the book:
"You would have a hard time finding someone in a better position to write this book. Dr. Willett is chairman of the Department of Nutrition at the Harvard School of Public Health, a professor at Harvard Medical School, and he heads some of the most important long-term studies of how nutrition affects health. In this up-to-date book, you will learn what the latest research shows about how eating, alcohol use, exercise and not smoking can help you avoid some diseases and birth defects. The book also explains how to read the latest health headlines and interpret the studies they are based on in the future. The lessons are summarized into a Healthy Eating Pyramid that you will find easy to understand, apply, and remember. The book contains a lot of helpful information about how to shop for more nutritious and healthful foods, and easy-to-follow recipes. I was particularly impressed with the summaries of the data on how weight and eating relate to various diseases."

Happy reading!

Aubrey

Family Enrichment Group Postponed

Sisters,

We are sorry to announce that we're going to have to postpone our Developmental Expectations discussion with Ivy Hill tonight. With this next storm coming and the flood watch coming back into effect, we would hate to have anyone out and not able to get back home. We will definitely reschedule and we'll let you know as soon as we do.

Thank you!

Family Enrichment Group

If you know of someone who was planning on coming would you please help to spread the word that it's been canceled?  Thanks!
