Gardening Class

Brother Berlan Crouch will be teaching a Gardening Class on Tuesday April 12th at 7:00pm at the Centerton Building.  Brother Crouch is a wealth of gardening knowledge and knows just how to make things understandable to “lay” folk.  He will be teaching a class about how to start a garden and some of the things he has learned over the years.  This class will be great for those of us who aren't quite sure where to start or how to keep our gardens producing.  It will be a great night for all.    

Tyson Chicken Sale- Lowell

I know the dates say March 2nd -5th, but I've received word that the sale is going on again tomorrow.  I was able to get some of the boneless, skinless chicken breasts last time and they are pretty good quality.  Definitely worth it for me.

Sae O’Connor

Sae and her husband Reid moved into the area in November 2010 from Lewisville, TX. They have three boys: Conan (15), Thor (13), and Orion (10). Sae enjoys volleyball, sports, watching movies, and walking with friends. She is happy when her three sons are getting along and everyone is happy together. She loves it when her family gets together and everyone is laughing and having a good time. Sae prefers dark chocolate, especially with some milk. Her favorite food is Japanese. She also enjoys soups and salads. Her favorite desserts are brownies and lemon bars. And her favorite place to vacation is anywhere she hasn’t already been. Her favorite scripture is D&C 64:34 (Behold, the Lord requireth the heart and a willing mind; and the willing and the obedient shall eat the good of the land of Zion in these last days.) because it reminds her to be more willing. This year she hopes to be more consistent, keep up with her checklists, and teach her family more Japanese.

YW 5K and Family Walk Fundraiser

Sat. April 23rd at 5:00pm will be our Young Women's Fundraiser to help the girls earn money for girls camp. Please come and support us in our Girls Just Wanna Have Funds 5K Run and Family Walk. The race will begin at 5:00pm; the walk at 5:10 at Lake Bella Vista. (Directions to come later.) The trail is scenic, paved, and perfect for strollers. Early registration is encouraged. Please see Nicole Bingham for a registration form. Prizes and snacks will be awarded for those who participate. Following the race, you are invited to bring a picnic for your family to enjoy at the park.

Sister Spotlight

Stacie Kathaleen Jensen Pabst

Stacie and her husband Matt moved to the Bentonville in October 2002 from Seattle, Washington. Stacie and Matt have four boys: Lukas (9), Ryder (6), Coleman (4), Sawyer (3), and another baby on the way (due June 19). Stacie enjoys traveling, running, singing, hiking, cooking, organizing, having parties, dating her hubby, and playing with her kiddos. Seeing others happy makes her happy, too. She prefers milk chocolate. Her favorite food is her mom’s tacos. Her favorite dessert is homemade éclairs, and her favorite place to vacation is anywhere tropical. Her favorite hymn is I Need Thee Every Hour because it is so, so true. This year she hopes to have a healthy baby and run in a great race by the end of 2011.

Quilting Class

Sisters,

 We had a great turnout at our meeting this month and I really enjoyed visiting with the sisters—especially those from the Branch that I don’t get to see anymore. But we had a conflict with the Branch while they were setting up for their quarterly meeting. So, we have decided to try it on a different day and we are going to add an evening session, as well. We will be having the quilting class on the 4^th Tuesday of each month from 9-11 am and 7-9 pm at the church. That way, those that work or have too many things during the day will have a chance to come after their husbands get home if they want to.

The next class will be on Tuesday, April 26^th at the times listed above. The block we will be working on is called the Spinning Four Patch. I have copied and pasted what the block looks like and the material list below. The sisters who attended decided to try to get it cut out before the class, so they can have more of a chance to sew and finish the block before they leave. If you are comfortable doing this, go ahead. If you have questions, or are afraid to try, I can help you with the cutting during class. I will have a copy of the full instructions for you at class.

Also, I have lots of scrap fabric if you want to use some just to see if you like making this block before you go buy anything. Just let me know, so I can bring something to class for you. I will bring my machine, rotary cutter and mat for anyone who would like to use them during class, as well.

** Supplies List **

Color 1

Color 1 needs: two 3-7/8" x 7-3/4" strips AND one 7-1/4" square

				Color 2	Color 2 needs: two 3-7/8" x 7-3/4" strips AND one 7-1/4" square
		** Preparing the Pieces and Sewing the Block **

Start by cutting one set of Color 1 and Color 2  3-7/8" x 7-3/4" strips into two squares each. Stack and cut these squares once on the diagonal...

		Now cut the Color 1 and Color 2  7-1/4" squares each twice on the diagonal...
		Next speed piece the half squares, by stacking the remaining set of Color 1 and Color 2  3-7/8" x 7-3/4" strips, right sides together and all edges aligned. Draw a light line on the back marking the 3-7/8" square, then mark the diagonals in the directions shown. Now sew a SCANT 1/4" above and below the marked diagonals, pivoting at the square line. Cut apart on the square line, and on the marked diagonal lines. This will give you four half squares. Press seam allowances towards the darker fabrics. Trim to measure 3-1/2" if needed...
